Food and Nutrition

Why are fruits & vegetables important?

Vegetables and fruit have important nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and fibre. They are usually low in fat and calories. A healthy diet with lots of vegetables and fruit may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and some types of cancers. The Vegetables and Fruit food group is the most prominent arc on the Food Guide rainbow because they provide many nutrients.

An easy way to get enough vegetables and fruit is to eat a couple of servings at breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Watch this video to find out how.
