Placing your baby on their tummy while awake and supervised can help them to strengthen their muscles and prevents
flat head. Just a few minutes a day, a few times a day, can help your baby get used to tummy time.
You can start tummy time right from birth as part of your baby’s daily play. For example, try placing them on their tummy for short periods after a diaper change. Gradually increase the time on their tummy as they get older to 10 to 15 minutes and at least 3 times a day. It helps if you get on the floor face-to-face with your baby and use this as play time.
In addition to tummy time, there are other things you can do to prevent flat head. Try changing feeding positions. Alternate the 'foot-end of the crib' each night. Avoid having your baby in a car seat, swing or stroller for long periods of time when possible.
