  • To prevent concerns about milk supply refer pregnant women to a prenatal breastfeeding class to learn more about how to make and maintain a good supply of breast milk.
  • Refer mothers who are having a problem with their milk supply to a breastfeeding clinic, support program or public health nurse in her community.
  • Never encourage new mothers to give their breastfed baby a supplement (formula, water, cereal) without first talking to a breastfeeding expert.
