LESSON #3
INFORMED DECISION MAKING

Open-Ended Questions

Open-ended questions invite discussion. They tell the listener that you are interested in their thoughts and feelings, and are willing to take the time to listen. Asking this type of question is so important when we are working with pregnant women, particularly those who are at risk of not breastfeeding.

Getting in the habit of asking pregnant women about breastfeeding in this way may seem difficult at first, but you will see the difference the first time you try it, and it will become easier with practice. You can do it!
