The Impact of Advertising on Infant Health

It has been recognized by leading experts in the field of infant nutrition that advertising of breast milk substitutes (e.g. formula) has a devastating impact on infant feeding practices. Such advertising steers mothers and health workers away from breastfeeding towards breast milk substitutes contributing to unnecessary infant illness and even infant death.
