The health unit is required under the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) to collect and maintain up-to-date immunization records for every student in Simcoe Muskoka.
Students currently in grades 4, 5 and 6, for whom we do not have up to date immunization records have been provided letters advising what vaccines are outstanding.
- Letter 1- mailed in January/February 2024
- Letter 2- mailed to those who did not respond or information is still missing - mailed home in June 2024
- Letter 3- sent home in student backpacks mid to late November 2024
If we do not receive those updated records, your child could unfortunately face suspension from school in February 2025.
When you receive immunizations from your health care provider, you need to report to the health unit as we currently do not receive that information automatically. If your child has received, or when they receive, the missing immunizations please update the record as per below.
- If your child has already received the missing vaccines from your health care provider, please report them to the health unit.
- If you have a health care provider, please book an appointment with them to receive any missing vaccines.
- The health unit is offering a limited number of catch-up clinics for students who do not have a health care provider.
If your child cannot be vaccinated or you have chosen not to vaccinate, contact the health unit at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 to file a valid exemption.
